There is no set fee for coding. You can charge a per claim basis or you can charge an hourly rate. Coders could make anywhere from $15 to $30 per hour.

You also should take into consideration the time per encounter spent. We charge a lesser fee per claim for office visits vs op reports. It takes longer to code a surgery than it does to code an E&M.
